Madison County Annual Youth Shoot Another Success

36 shooters participated in Madison County’s Fish and Game annual youth shoot on April 24, 2010. Madison County Fish and Game provided guns, targets, shells, ear and eye protection along with a free lunch for all participants. Coaches were also present to help each youth shooter with answers to their questions along with helping to provide a safe environment for the event. Most of the participants are from the Boy Scout Troop 104. A big round of thanks also goes to the ODNR, Division of Wildlife for providing a grant to keep the shoot a free annual event. It’s a win, win for both Madison County Fish and Game and the local area youth shooters.

$1,200.00 College Scholarship

Once again Madison County Fish and Game is sponsoring a $1,200.00 scholarship to a graduating high school senior. Madison County pays out $600.00 for the first semester and $600.00 the second semester. We are currently reviewing our applicants at this time.

The selection process is conducted by the club officers. Each submitted application is carefully reviewed and a winner is voted on by club officers. Over the years Madison County Fish and Game has expanded their application guidelines. Many years ago the club focused on students looking to enter into a wildlife officer program, however, the process has been expanded to all areas of study. The only stipulation is that the graduating senior must be from Madison County. Typically we receive over 45 applicants each year. With this small donation, Madison County Fish and Game Club members like to think that in our own way we are helping to make a positive impact to our little corner of the world.
